Bedroom Sets Both Personal and Practical

Shopping for a bedroom set is a pretty hard thing to do. You have to find a set where you like all the pieces individually and as a set. Frequently you come across a set where you like one or two items, like say the night stands or just the bed, but the rest doesn’t really float your boat.

If this sounds like the kind of problem you have when shopping for furniture, consider making your own designer bedroom set. The set pictured here is obviously a product of this special way of doing things. Admittedly, this set has a slight retro feel to it—the nightstands for example seem to have gilt edges that look kind of French antique in background; the lampshades are a little old-fashioned for our tastes, but you’ve got to admit it’s a pretty bed room set. What we like about it is the injection of someone’s personality into their style. Beyond that, the backboard above the bed, while kind of midcentury, is still a pretty practical item. We’re not sure why backboards like this have lost favor, because it’s a really practical part of a bed set: you lean your head against it when reading or watching TV. Much better than a hard wooden backboard.
